Piazza Castello
Carlo Emmanuele I commissioned architect Ascanio Vitozzi to design this historic square at the end of the 16th century. It still bustles, now surrounded by the Palazzo Reale, the Teatro Regio and various popular shops and cafes.

Since 1825 the Piazza della Repubblica has hosted a bustling market the second Sunday of every month. Antique dealers from all over the country arrive to display their wares, items ranging from fine jewelery to rusty farm tools. The square comes alive with the sounds of talented barterers trying for the best deals.
