Holy Shroud Museum (Museo della Sindone)

A subject of much controversy, the Shroud of Turin (Santissima Sindone)is believed to have been the cloth that was used to wrap the body of Christ after the crucifixion. A faint and ghostly image, bearing signs of wounds consistent with those Jesus sustained, is imprinted on the fabric. Several tests have been performed to prove or disprove the story, the results of which are discussed at the museum. The Shroud is sometimes on display around the corner at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist (Cattedrale di San Giovanni Battista).
